Nick Tyson (b. 1991, United States) is a filmmaker, writer and producer based between Paris and New York City. Over the course of a decade, he has specialized in archival storytelling as part of the production team for non-fiction media projects – ranging from films and television series for HBO, WNET and Discovery Channel to interactive media and mobile applications for museums and educators.

His filmmaking practice explores queer embodiment and sensorial experience across physical and digital landscapes, engaging with forms of experimental cinema, observational documentary, and sensory ethnography. His most recent projects include “Comme une reine” [“Like a Queen”] (2022); “Tracing Utopia” (2021), co-directed alongside Catarina de Sousa, which premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam; and the dance film “Address” (2020), filmed and edited in collaboration with dancer and choreographer Garnet Henderson, which premiered at the EstroGenius Festival 2020.

He is a graduate of Columbia University where he studied film and anthropology. He received training in film production from Prague Film School and Yale University, and was part of the UnionDocs Collaborative Studio artist residency from 2019 through 2020. He will be finishing his masters in documentary cinema and visual anthropology at the Université Paris Nanterre in spring 2022.
